August 19th, 2008 admin Posted in business | No Comments »

By Chris Simpson

Running an online business is a great way to go into business for yourself. One of the most attractive features when it comes to having one is that you can almost completely automate it. In addition to this, there is a lot of flexibility when it comes to the products, services, and features that you provide to your customer. However, in order to succeed when it comes to running your new venture, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Here are 5 easy tips to running your online business:

1. The very first thing that you should do is to ensure that you have a sound business plan put into place. This plan is an outline of the goals that you have. In addition to this, it outlines your finances, your marketing plan, and other items of interest. It has been proven that most businesses that fail to implement a plan stand a high chance of failing overall. Put your business plan into place and you will be more likely to succeed.

2. The next thing that you will need to do is consider the design of your website. It is important to remember that your website is the first impression that your potential prospects have. You should ensure that you create a website that is unique, appealing, and easy for the average internet user to maneuver around on. Be sure that you are creative and generally innovative when it comes to developing the website that will house your online business.

3. When running it, it is important to know and understand the basics when it comes to search engines, search engine optimization, and other similar terms. If your new venture is not properly optimized, it is quite likely that you will not have a good enough search engine ranking to be found by potential consumers. One of the best ways to optimize your website for search engine ranking is to include high quality content that makes good use of search engine optimized keywords.

4. The next thing that you must consider is the level of customer service that you will provide to your customers. You should always remember that your customers come first and are the most important aspect of your business. If you remember this, you are likely to provide a level of customer service that is hard to top anywhere else!

5. The last tip that I have, is that it is essential to ensure that you continuously strive to be innovative. This will allow you to keep on top of the competition and provide customers with the products and services that they want and deserve. Being innovative will allow you to remain flexible, fresh, and appealing to your customers.

As you can see, there are many essential tips that can assist you when it comes to running your online business. If you want to be successful, following the tips contained throughout this guide can help you do just that!

Disadvantages in a Salesman’s Life
By Marty Lawrence

The disadvantages connected with the work of a traveling salesman are so great that they must be taken into consideration. He is away from home and family frequently two or three or four months at a time. He may find poor hotel accommodations in some localities. He must endure irregularity of meals, poor food often, and loss of sleep caused by the need of making towns on schedule time.

He may be troubled by local train facilities or by driving from town to town in severe weather. He may have to work nights and Sundays to keep up to schedule and to make sales. He often undergoes heavy mental strain in making sales, especially to large customers. The monotony of extended yearly trips over the same routes, with conditions that wear more and more upon a person after several years, leads in most cases to a strong desire for change of occupation.

Then the problem of changing to a profitable occupation or of establishing himself in some other position may become a difficult matter. Unless one is a member of his firm while still a salesman or holds some relation to it of especial importance, he is not likely to find a place with his firm, either in the offices or in the factory. Nor does his experience fit him to go into any other line of work, unless as salesman for a concern dealing in some other kind of product.

In general the traveling salesman, because of the reasons above stated, becomes unfitted for taking up a new occupation as late in life as must usually be the case. The traveling shoe salesman in seeking another line of work most frequently enters a retail shoe store as selling clerk, becomes manager of a shoe department in a store or of a branch store conducted by a factory, or opens a store for himself in some locality where he has found an opportunity during his traveling experience.

In some such cases the firm which he has served as salesman favors him, even to supplying a stock of goods. This method opens an additional outlet for merchandise and is a natural step in the continual change in the personnel of the selling force.

I have made a research into every available source to ascertain the cause and conditions that created that national institution the traveling salesman.

In a musty volume of yesteryear I find a press clipping attributed to a New York newspaper printed in 1847, as follows :

The wholesale stores employ clerks whose business it is to go to the hotels and make the acquaintance of the visiting merchants in order to induce them to buy goods of the firms which employ them. . . .

And later as history is written we find that a few years previous to the War of the Rebellion, ” the house ” frequently sent men on road trips to investigate the credit of customers and to report impressions and conditions in communities.

Very often these emissaries returned with memorandums of orders to be sent, filling, so to speak, between trips to market. This was of course before the days of the mercantile agencies which, as is natural to suppose, came into existence after the traveler had hewed the trail.

Marty is a keen explorer, researching topics related to employment and careers.

(Small business marketing) Money Making - In Defense of Capitalism

August 19th, 2008 admin Posted in business | No Comments »

By Scott Lindsay

The classic tale of Robin Hood finds a man with good intentions robbing those who are rich in order to allow the poor to live another day. This is a romantic story where the guy gets the girl and the world is set right in the end, but how does it work itself out in reality?

Robin Hood is a sympathetic nod to socialism at worst and represents vigilante justice at best. Those who read the story will ultimately conclude Robin Hood is the hero in the story for finding a way to help the poor. However, Robin did so using methods that were illegal and some might contend dangerous.

For the sake of argument let’s say that Robin worked to change the laws and the rich would be forced to surrender their wealth for the betterment of their fellow man. Wouldn’t this solution ensure equality for all? Not exactly.

One of the primary reasons capitalism works is that it provides a unique incentive for individuals to develop ideas that result in improved personal wealth. That wealth is used to invest in other ventures or is saved for home improvements and education.

I can almost hear some of you suggesting that these rich business owners make their money at the expense of the poor. The truth is as one man or woman finds their hard work paying off they will ultimately create more jobs and spend more money with other businesses. As those businesses grow they hire more people and spend more money with others.

In a socialist model of government we often find that there is little incentive to do your best. Why should you? You receive the same amount whether you do well or do poorly - everyone is treated the same.

And because no one is being innovative in the role of motivated business owner there are very few new ideas and no reason to seek to improve ones position in life. If everything you have is provided by the government then you have no cause to do anything more or less than to accept your share and live your life in the best way possible knowing your conditions will never change.

In areas where capitalism is allowed to thrive you will discover that citizens find a motivation to be successful. They suddenly have a reason to succeed. Their taxes pay for programs to help those in need and many will involve themselves in programs aimed at corporate responsibility. In other words these successful businesses will voluntarily give back to their community simply because they have found monetary success - not because they were forced to give. When the motivations change greater successes are possible.

When one individual finds success others are motivated to do the same. Competition in business is a healthy outgrowth of capitalism. Competition generally makes both businesses better.

Yes, there may be greed involved in some business startups - that is also a byproduct of capitalism. While greed is probably the dark thread in an otherwise beautiful tapestry it doesn’t negate the fact that even this seemingly negative attribute can be useful in job creation and as a means of redistributing wealth through hard work and great ideas.

Capitalism gets to the heart of self-determination and remains a useful tool in most of the ideas that have radically transformed virtually every aspect of commerce and technology.

(Online business marketing) 7 More Golden Keys To Building A Multimillion Dollar Empire

August 19th, 2008 admin Posted in business | No Comments »

By Matt Bacak

Following are 6 more keys you need to know to build a multimillion dollar empire.

Golden Key #1: Focus on lead generation and profit generation. Look at your business by getting traffic and sending it to your page and selling products. With the right traffic strategies you can get 3,000 visitors to each of your websites.

Golden Key #2: Get customers online and then take them offline right away. The cheapest way to get leads is from the Internet. However, once you’ve grabbed these customers take them offline through phone calls, teleseminars, etc.

Golden Key #3: You have to make decisions. Opportunities will come your way and you have to act on them right away. You have to be decisive.

Golden Key #4: One extremely lucrative way to make a lot of money is to become a platform speaker. You can do this through the teleseminar circuit. Speaking is one of the highest paid professions. It may even be the number one highest paid professions.

Golden Key #5: Sell to the masses. Build lists. Sell seminars. There is a reason why people do seminars and teleseminars because they can make money from them. It doesn’t matter what your niche is, you can still create and make money from a teleseminar.

For example, you can have teleseminars about the frequently asked questions about your niche. You could also teach people how to use your product or how to learn more in your niche.

Golden Key #6: Sell one-on-one. This is where a truck load of money is made. You can sell it yourself, build a sales team, or outsource it. There are so many more places to make money after the initial sale. You should always strive to up sell and create residual income.

Keep on selling things to the buyer while you can. When the buyer is in heat, the buyer is in heat so keep selling until they finally say no.

Golden Key #7: Follow the piles of cash. For example, hang out with people that you want to be like. Essentially you can ‘buy’ your friends and there is nothing wrong with that. Think about it. Athletes on teams essentially pay to have friends through purchasing the sports equipment.

This same theory applies to neighborhoods of people that you can connect with. Move to a neighborhood that has business contacts you desire. Listen to these people, network, and learn from them so you can obtain the income level they have.

There are many strategies to making money on the internet, but nothing makes sense unless you have a big list. Email Marketing is the most profitable way to make money on the internet. Make Money With Mobile Advertising
By Benjamin Deleon

With over 250 million mobile subscribers in the U.S. alone, the mobile phone is ripe and ready to become the “next evolution” in marketing. As mobile phones easily outnumber personal computers both in the U.S. and around the world, mobile is destined to become the most powerful marketing tool for brand owners, small businesses, and professionals. As advertising transitions from the TV screen, to the computer screen, to the mobile screen, the money-making opportunities in mobile advertising are becoming more evident. This is why mobile advertising is already on its way to becoming a billion-dollar business.

Last year, the research firm Informa Telecoms & Media reported spending on mobile advertising at around $900 Million worldwide. Media giants Bloomberg, CNN, CNBC, and other business publications that follow the trend, forecast that annual mobile ad expenditure will explode to $11.4 billion in just the next 3 years. Other analysts even go as far as to predict that mobile advertising will be as big as $20 billion by 2011.

So why does mobile advertising offer exceptional money-making opportunities? The projected growth of mobile advertising rides on a new culture that makes mobile central to our changing lifestyle. In a wireless

culture, mobile messaging will prove to be an invaluable tool for reaching pressed-for-time, hyper-tasking, highly mobile American consumers. In fact, today’s consumers have become easily more accessible through their mobile phones than they are via print, radio, television or even the Internet.

With mobility redefining how we perceive voice and data communications, marketers are exploring an assortment of new technologies, software, and services that can now be used to send advertising messages –text, graphical, or multimedia — to mobile phones and other personal communication devices.

As mobile handsets achieve optimum market penetration, micro-browser advertising will become the hotspot of tomorrow’s marketing contests. You can capture the big prize by exploring the opportunities micro-size

advertising offers and how you can monetize this megatrend. You can profit from mobile advertising by staying ahead of the curve and learning how to design and send these new ads via Short Code, SMS, MMS, and

Mobile Web.

Today there are several service and easy-to-use software products that you can impliment to offer mobile advertising services to businesses and professionals in your local market area. Your ability to master the complexities of small screen advertising is the first step to making money in your own mobile advertising business. With the cell phone, society has stumbled upon a new advertising vehicle. As an entrepreneur, it is critical that you gain a better understanding of this new opportunity, and explore the proper and effective uses of this new marketing tool.

How To Choose A Business Name (home based business marketing)

August 17th, 2008 admin Posted in business | No Comments »

By Deep Arora

A business name is often an identifier, revealing something unique about the company. A name may tell customers what the business does such as Ford Motors, how they do it like LA Therapeutic Massage, what they promise to deliver such as Thompsons Best Apparel, who the people are behind it naming Smith and Wesson and what the business hopes to achieve promising Prosperity Credit. Other business names provoke further investigation or questions, such as names like 401K or Oxygen.

In most businesses across the globe, the business name reflects the businesses positive attributes, in names like Lucky Enterprises, Best Buy Depot, Star Corporation, the Dynamic Software Company and so on. You would be hard pressed to find any positive words that havent been put to use one way or another in a business name.

The initial selection of a business name is a relatively easy process, what most often causes headaches is when the organization seeks to register their business name. The authorities dont allow two businesses to use the very same name. This decisions makes sense, as clearly having multiple businesses bearing the same moniker would make the regulation of organizations a nightmare! For example, if a registered business is found to be violating some law it is therefore open to prosecution. If more than one business has the same name, then there is the potential that during an investigation, the other business entity would naturally be open to being implicated. For this reason it is unsurprising that the unauthorized use of a registered business name thus became a violation of the law also.

Having considered the implications of sharing an existing business name, then the next thing worth working on are names youll want to rule out. In all honesty, its only the weirdo types who will want to name businesses as Unscrupulous Incorporated or Thieves R Us! Although it raises curiosity and provokes humor, common sense tends to dictate that dealing with an unscrupulous organization or worse yet a thief, is risky in business. Chances are you would run the other way if you were confronted with a bank named the Bankrupts Bank of the Middle East or Shady Dealings Bank.

On the other hand, the clever use of a weird, intriguing and easily recalled business names can save an organization a bundle on advertising money, through the use of clever and satirical business names. One crafty air-conditioning service center named its business Stiff Nipples, using eye catching, sexy wording in the business title of a company selling air conditioners!

A popular example of a satirical business name is the successful Monster. Surprisingly, it is a job placement service. Why would a jobseeker go to work for a monster, or an employer hire one for that matter? This name begs the question of what the likes of Karl Marx would have made of this unique business name, given his stance on capitalism! One suspects that he would have loved to make fun of that website in advancing his particular ideology. As a business name, however, this unusual choice has nonetheless become synonymous with the employment website.

A recent post by a writer from Ezine highlighted this unusual selection of names. When asked their thoughts on several different words one respondent commented that Amazon suggested a jungle when in fact it was the business name of an internet business, the respondent noted Apple was a brand of computer named after a fruit and Caterpillar was a brand of heavy machinery rather than a soft, crawling bug. These answers served to highlight the juxtaposition of the business names and products with the initial meanings of the words used in their names.

If you have found the perfect name only to discover it is taken, then you can still find a way around this. One way is by associating the name selected with your particular business location. If you want your name to be Superstars Marketing, then naming your business New York Superstars Marketing can give you the name you are after without conflicting with another registered name. The thing you should consider in this situation is whether the other business is already in your location doing the same thing with a very similar name. If this is the case then you may simply be better off looking for an alternative business name.

Choosing an appropriate and meaningful business name is one of the key ingredients for your business. When you are starting out the choice of name can play a key role in your advertising, marketing and branding. Spending time ensuring that your business name is a good fit with your products and service will make the key promotional elements of your business plan easier to implement. Have some fun with your business name and view it as a unique opportunity to start the process of carving out your own niche in your area of business.

Google Adsense: Where to Place Ad blockss on Your Web Pages
By Rahim Abu Fattah

This is one of the best parts of the whole Google Adsense experience. No one else gets to make this decision except you. Its your page. You get to decide how many ( up to 3 ads per page), what colors and shapes you will use and on what part of the page the ad will be placed. Should you place your ads at the top or bottom? In the middle of the text? To the left or right?

The most important decision should be based on the needs of the visitors to your site? What are they looking for? Are they there to read or merely to browse. If they are there to read an entire article, say, you might try placing your ads at the bottom of the page so they will have something to do next. Some publishers swear by placing the ads at the top left of the page because they think customers look there first.

The fun thing is experimenting with all the possibilities. Try different ad locations and different colors for a week and note the differences in your reports. When you hit on something successful, youll see the difference.

Really Simple Syndication is a Really Simple Internet Marketing Tool
By Terry Leslie

We keep hearing about these RSS feeds, which means Really Simple Syndication, but so few people really understand their importance as an internet marketing tool or how they play such a significant role in conjunctions with other internet marketing tools. No matter how many internet marketing tools that you are currently using, there are always better ones, faster ones, and more effective ones that come onto the scene. And while you can live without even really understanding some of them, RSS has made the list of vital internet marketing tools among the top rated internet marketers on the information superhighway. Perhaps you should be looking into using them as well.

The basic function of an RSS feed is saving information. It can be easily used on any website for saving updates. If someone enters a website and changes their address for future reference, most often it is an RSS feed that captures that information and maintains it for further reference. Additionally, any time you are seeking updated information, an RSS feed will deliver it to you without any wait time, unlike mailing lists and e-mail updates, these feeds allow for instant communication once they are established. A very simple concept can turn into a pretty significant internet marketing tool for those with just a small amount of savvy and wherewithal.

Any website can make use of these feeds, although the most popular of the potential uses is still linked feeds in campaigns involving e-mail and blogging, or through personal indexing sites. Really simple syndication is very easily linked to the necessary (and free to download) aggregator to help in the reading process. All of this specialized technology allows you to communicate and maintain instant updates that plug into everything to help your business grow and allow you to keep yourself in the top of loop. This access to instant information may seem inconsequential, however for those with hefty competition, timing can prove to be everything.

Aggregators are fabulous tools for maintaining your feeds and accepting only the information that is vital to you and your needs. In fact, you can maintain information indefinitely or you can opt out of a feed at any time. Since most websites have an obvious link for all feed, establishing the connection is just as easy as dropping a connection when you move onto other things. This is so much simpler than trying to unsubscribe from a stubborn e-mail list. RSS feeds eliminate the need for e-mail lists and frustrating opt in and opt out plans.

The aggregator provides you with a multitude of services all in one neat little package. In fact, you can view a message once and then opt to have all previously viewed information hidden unless you call it back up, all of your similar RSS feeds can be combined into one view page and of course, special options are becoming more and more popular as the feeds grow in demand.

An aggregator can also help simplify the issue of choosing your format. The aggregator is sort of like an interpreter, something that can read through the wide variety of possible factors and report to you the information you are seeking. This is also true in reverse when you are sending out the information and using it as an internet marketing tool. This also eliminates the endless hours of attempting to determine for yourself which format is suitable and why. The aggregator can simply provide you with interpretations that make format selection a much simpler process.

RSS feeds seem like they are very handy for users, but of course you’re probably wondering what benefit does the RSS feed bring to you as a simple internet marketing tool. In a word; visibility. Traffic doesn’t flow to your site just because you put a site out there. All websites need a certain level of visibility in order to remain competitive. As an internet marketing tool, an RSS feed provides you with a higher level of visibility, and in fact, can help by pass the struggle for a top slot on a Google search page. Users on the other end can be delivered your information without having to bother with a Google search or even explore the great big internet to find you. Rather, it’s like delivering your information right to them without dealing with spam and without having to wait to be asked. They connected to you somewhere, so you aren’t inflicting unwanted information upon them. As an internet marketing tool, this can be invaluable and incredibly simple. Even if you don’t completely understand RSS feeds, getting your feet wet with one can help you learn the process and understand how it can be a highly effective internet marketing tool.
