(Business marketing solutions) How Will You Divide the Workload?
By Kelly Church
When starting your own business, there are so many things to take into consideration. From deciding what type of company you are going to establish to thinking about the amount of capital you will need to have to invest, all the decisions, big or small, need attention. One of the questions you will have to decide on is what share of the workload you will be involved in. For example, there are three different ways to handle running a company. Depending on the type of business you start, the workload can be handled just by you, you can hire employees and share the workload, or you can hire employees to handle the major part of the workload.
The first option is to simply do the work all by yourself. Depending on the type of business you will be running this may or may not be possible. If you do something in a manner that is unique to you, like maybe making one-of-a-kind crafts, managing the workload yourself may be something that is easy for you. If you are starting a 200 seat restaurant establishment, obviously this is not an option for that type of business. This would have to utilize one of the other two options.
Another option of sharing the workload if you can not or do not wish to do all the work yourself is to hire employees. This helps ease the burden and in some cases is necessary for the type of business you are thinking about beginning or have begun. If you still wish to be or have to be active in the day to day workings, you can do that. The advantage to being at your company everyday is that the employees are usually on much better behavior when the boss is hanging around than when the boss is not there on a regular basis. This makes you feel like you are part of the everyday operation of your business without leaving the burden solely on you.
Finally, the last option is to hire great employees, then leave the everyday operation of the business completely up to them. Hire great management material with a good long list of experience on his or her resume and trust him or her to help you hire great employees. With a great manager on the premises, you can make sure your business is being run properly without having to be in the building at all times. Being able to be free for other ventures is a great way to expand.
Whether you decide to take complete control of the workload or to take as little of a role as possible for an owner, the decision is a very important one for you to make. Making sure you have the money to hire employees is one way to tell if that avenue is right for you. If your business is small and individualized, you may feel like you want to do everything yourself in the beginning. Whatever works the best for you is what you should decide upon. And dont be afraid to try them all to see which you like the best.
